FAQ - Bad Prom™
What if I’m not much of a runner? Can I still participate?
You sure can! You can walk, run, skip, or even dance across the finish line. Bad Prom is an untimed event, because it’s more about having a hilarious blast than competing against your fellow Bad Promsters. Just make sure you’re ready to get jiggy with it at the dance party afterwards!
How much are Bad Prom tickets?
Ticket prices vary depending on a variety of factors, including location, whether or not you come in a team, and how close to Prom night you sign up (hint: the more you buy your tickets in advance, the more you’ll save!). You can find more details in your city by choosing the event near you on our locations page.
What do I wear?
The answer is simple: whatever you’d like! Everyone who registers for Bad Prom gets one of our awesome Bad Prom t-shirts that can double as your costume. Or if you want to go all-out, you can hit up your local thrift store, raid your grandparents’ attic, or mutilate that tragedy of a bridesmaid dress that’s been hiding at the back of your closet. To get some more info, learn about our costumes here!
What does Bad Prom 5K do for Charity?
Quite a bit, actually -- but there is ALWAYS more to be done to help out the many good causes we support. Every Bad Prom 5K event works closely with a local non-profit organization to ensure that the good they do can keep going in your community. If you'd like to recommend a non-profit organization in one of the cities we run in, do so on the CONTACT US page!
What kind of swag do I get when I sign up for Bad Prom 5K?
Besides bringing you a crazy, magical evening, we’re going to hook you up for all your Bad Prom needs! You’ll get your super sweet Bad Prom runner shirt that can double as your costume, glow accessories to light up the night, and other swanky Bad Prom swag to ensure you have the most fun you’ve ever had running.
Can Kids Come?
Kids are welcome at Bad Prom! Kids 6 and under run free with an adult - no need to register them. Strollers are allowed. Wagons, bikes, and rollerblades are not.
If dogs could dance, they could go to prom! Unfortunately, until Fido can do The Hokey Pokey, he will need to stay home.
How do I find out where packet pick-up will be?
We will post information about packet pick-up a week or two before the event. Make sure you like us on Facebook so you can stay tuned to all of our announcements! You may pick up packets for your friends or family, but you MUST have their signed waiver with you to do so.
How will I know my time?
We don’t time Bad Prom. It's more about having a hilarious blast than competing with your fellow Bad Promsters. You’re going to want to take your time enjoying all four of our fantastic prom themes along the course. If you’re dying to know your time, maybe you can borrow a stopwatch from the high school gym coach?
What if the weather is bad?
We’ll hold Bad Prom as scheduled even if it’s raining. But our first priority is your safety, and there may be occasions -- such as high wind or lightning -- that we will postpone the run. If the weather looks threatening as we lead up the event, keep your eyes on our Facebook page and your email for updates.
Can I register the day of the event?
Most of our events sell out in advance, but check our website before you come. Registration at the event in the rare case it is available will be $10 more than online and shirts / gear will be available on a first come - first serve basis.
How many people can you have on a team?
You need at least four people to create a team. After that, the sky’s the limit! There is no max amount of team members.
How do I register my team?
First, one team member must create the team as part of their registration. Then other members will be able to find the team name during their own registration process. Each person MUST register separately.
How old do I have to be to create a team?
You must be over 18 years of age to create a team, but people under 18 can join once it's created.
What if my friend or family member didn't join my team during registration?
Don't worry! Even if they're not officially listed as a team member in our system, you can still run together without any impact on how you participate in the event. The team system allows you to save $5 and come up with a super awesome name for yourselves, but because Bad Prom is not a relay, it has minimal impact on how the race itself functions.
How can I get support or other help?
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get back to you right away. NOTE: Because we like to dash and dance on the weekends, it can take a couple of days to to get back to you (Thursday to Sunday).
